PHNOM PENH: Former Prime Minister Hun Sen asked the Lotte Corporation, a South Korean multinational corporation and the fifth largest company in the South Korea, to increase its investment in Cambodia.

The former PM and leader of the Cambodian People’s Party met with International Director of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), Charles S. Yang, on January 29. The UPF is a South Korean NGO that was founded in 2005 by the South Korean Unification Church. In recent months, Mr. Yang has met with Cambodia’s National Assembly President and Prime Minister Hun Manet to strengthen cooperation between his organization and the Cambodian government.

While meeting with Mr. Yang and his delegation, the former PM proposed that South Korea’s Lotte Corporation increase its investment in Cambodia, especially in vocational training. He specifically mentioned the need for training in protecting Cambodia’s endangered fish populations. He thanked Charles S. Yang and UPF leaders for their participation in the 2023 general election and for their contribution to human resource development through scholarships and other training programs.

Mr. Yang praised Samdech Hun Sen for leading his country in nation-building, and credited his Win-Win Policy for bringing peace and national unity to Cambodia. He said that the policies should serve as an example for peace and unification of the Korean Peninsula.
